How to Find Books and other Library Items

Search the library catalog

Find the library catalog search box at the top of the library home page, many of the library web site pages, and on our Research Guides.

Search the catalog to find books, ebooks, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, state adopted textbooks, teaching materials (curriculum library), youth and juvenile materials, and special collections.

Select the type of search: keyword, title, author, subject heading.

  • For Keyword Searches: Combine keywords on your topic
Ex. eating disorder | Ex. global warming
  • For Keyword Searches: Use quotation marks around phrases
Ex. "American Revolution" | Ex. "Civil War"

The Location and Call Number of the item will help you locate that item in the library.

The Status of an item indicates if the item is checked out, and when the item is due.

Click on the title of an item to find more information about that item.

Need a book not owned by the library?

You may use a free TexShare card or our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services to borrow books from other libraries. Read more about TexShare and ILL.

You may also search WorldCAT to locate books and other materials held in libraries worldwide (including the UMHB library).
